There has been a lot that has happened since the last post. I had been focusing on updating the facebook page and not so much the blog.
Today was our 4th meeting at the Greene County Career Center! It has been going well, keep it in prayer. We studied Philippians 2:1-10
"2 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
We should be challenged by this passage to not only come together as the body of Christ, putting aside our denominational differences, and serve the Lord in a sacrificial manner. Do different denominations matter? In my estimation, if we are preaching Christ and Him crucified, that salvation is in Him alone because of His resurrection from the dead, then I can overlook petty theological differences. How else will we be effective for reaching this world for Christ?
There is a dire need to become focused, come together as with one mind and of one accord. This job is too big for all of us to sit by and try to make our small difference in our little corner of Fairborn. If we join together, pull our resources, and start to divide this responsibility, we can make a much bigger difference and be used in a mighty way. But we have to be of one mind, one that is our through Christ Jesus.
We must also learn to follow Christ's example in humility. We have to take the form of a servant to all people. "Count others more significant that yourselves." Look for a possibility to put others before yourself today and do it through an attitude of service and joy. You may be shocked at the reaction people will have towards you.
"At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Whether it be in this life, or in eternity, every knee will bow to give honor and glory to Christ Jesus. Let's be about the work of Christ and call everyone's knees to bow before Christ now, not later.
